Process:

I was inspired to create a top in the shape of a leaf umbrella from the Studio Ghibli movie, Totoro. I felt that an umbrella shape would work well as a top because the shape is similar to most tops. I started the project by looking at inspiration photos and creating a sketch. Once on Rhino, I designed a leaf shape before curving in upwards like an umbrella. As a fun touch, I created a mini Totoro as the handle of the umbrella.
